Uses of Paracord

paracord uses Popular among military and outdoor enthusiasts everywhere, paracord is very versatile and has many uses in emergency or survival situations. It is one of the most useful items you can have in your emergency preparedness supply kit. Paracord can be used in any situation that requires light cord, and can also be used in many other creative ways.

Use paracord to secure gear and other items:
  • Attaching equipment to harnesses
  • Tying rucksacks or other gear to vehicles and other objects
  • Securing camouflage nets
  • Securing Traps
  • Other survival situations

As tow line

You can use paracord as a tow line to pull your gear (or anything else). The most common type, offered by SoldierCity, is 550 lb. Type III Paracord (commonly known as 550 cord). This class of paracord has a minimum breaking strength of 550 lbs (249 kg).

When you need very thin string

When finer string is needed, the yarns of the core (the "guts") can be removed. The finer string can be used as fishing line, to secure lighter items, or as sewing thread to repair tents and other gear.

Decorative Uses

Paracord can be used to make para cord bracelets. Paracord can also be used to make lanyards, belts, and other fashionable or decorative items.

Paracord survival bracelets are a very popular item. They are not only fashionable, but can provide 8-10 feet of paracord to be used in an emergency situation. Other Uses and Tips

  • When a less elastic cord is needed, remove the inner core and use the outer nylon sheath alone.
  • Thread with beads and use as a pace counter to estimate how much ground has been covered.
  • Tip: Melt the ends of the cord to prevent fraying!
