U.S. Army Challenge Coins
Army challenge coins have been a tradition for decades. Thought to originate in the Army Air Corps during World War I, challenge coins have come to represent pride and camaraderie in 1000's of military and non-military organizations.
Each Army challenge coin is printed with the emblem of either the United States Army or of one of its units or divisions. As with other branches, custom holds that the recipient of an Army challenge coin carry it with them at all times. When "challenged", one must produce their Army coin immediately – or else buy a round of drinks for the challenger and for others who present their coins.
Today, Army challenge coins are frequently awarded to Army personnel upon entering a specific unit. Army challenge coins are also used to commemorate special occasions, or simply to serve as a reminder of one's service.
