How does the SoldierCity Affiliate Program work?

It's easy. You can earn money simply by linking to our web site. To start, just choose your affiliate network toward the bottom of the signup page. We work with three networks: ShareASale, AvantLink, and ImpactRadius. After you sign up with a network and are approved as a SoldierCity affiliate through that network, you will be sent a welcome email with information about how to log in to your account. Whenever someone follows one of your affiliate links and places an order, we note that the customer has been referred by your site and we record the amount of the sale. We take care of shipping, billing, and customer service - so the only thing you need to do is keep people coming to your site and clicking on your affiliate link(s)! We will pay you a generous commission of 7% for product revenue generated from your affiliate links.

What does it cost to join?

Nothing. Applying to and participating in the SoldierCity Affiliate Program is absolutely free. There is no charge to apply and there is no minimum sales requirement. You are also free to cancel at any time.

Is my site eligible to become a SoldierCity affiliate?

Most web sites will qualify for participation in the program. Anyone may submit an application; we review each and every potential affiliate site before accepting it into the program. However, we do reserve the right to decline a site's acceptance into the program. Possible reasons we might decline a site are: content and/or theme of applicant's site does not relate to that of SoldierCity; objectionable material, including pornography; explicit language or content; promotion of illegal activities; and discrimination based on race, sex, religion, national origin, physical disability, sexual orientation, or age. Please note that our network and agency partners also reserve the right to accept or decline affiliate applications.

Can a web site based outside of the United States become a SoldierCity affiliate?

Yes. Many of our customers live in countries outside of the United States. Customers buy from our site in U.S. dollars. Commission payment checks are issued by network(s) in which you participate and are typically denominated in U.S. dollars. Please see your network's affiliate interface for more details. Please note that we only ship to select countries, and some of our items may be restricted in some world markets.

I don't have a web site yet. Can I still apply to be an affiliate?

No. In order for us to review your site and process your application, your web site must be live. Once you have your web site up and running, please feel free to apply.

How are orders tracked and credited to my site?

Orders are tracked from your site based on a special link format that you can access from your network's affiliate interface. Whenever a visitor arrives at SoldierCity through one of these links and places an order, the associated commission and other related information will register in our system. You will be able to track this information in real-time through your affiliate reports, and you will be credited for any sales made during that session. Please note that your commission may later be adjusted due to order cancellations, returns, or fraudulent orders.

Do you use cookies?

Yes. The networks with which we work use "cookies" to track purchases made through our affiliates' links. These cookies are bits of information used by our server to communicate with your users' browsers. Our standard affiliate cookie setting is 60 days. This means that if a customer visits your site and clicks on one of your affiliate links, you will receive credit for any orders placed on our site by that customer within 60 days of the original click. Our affiliates find our 60-day cookie policy to be very beneficial, as this extends the time in which they can earn commission. Please note that a customer must have cookies enabled in his or her web browser in order for you to earn credit for a purchase made by that customer. Most customers keep their cookies enabled.

How will I monitor my sales from day to day?

Through our reporting tool, you will be able to access detailed, real-time information relating to clicks, revenue, status of orders, order ID's, and most importantly, commissions. In addition, you can be notified via email whenever a sale occurs through one of your affiliate links.

When will I be paid?

Payments will be processed every month for commissions earned during the previous month. Payment is typically made by check. However, you may apply for direct deposit via the network(s) with which you participate. If you have accrued less than $50 in commission for the month, the accrued amount will be applied to the following month.

Are all products eligible for commission?

Yes. All products are eligible for commission, although we do reserve the right to reject the commission of a particular product or transaction if we see fit.

What is the commission amount, or referral fee?

Our standard affiliate commission rate is 7% of revenue generated from affiliate links (excluding tax, shipping and handling, and other extraneous charges). We sometimes increase individual commission rates, based on factors such as overall sales.

How do I create links to SoldierCity?

After your application has been approved, you will receive an email explaining how to log in to your network's affiliate interface. You can then use the instructions in your network's interface to create special links to SoldierCity. The format of your link(s) is important, and ensures proper credit for sales resulting from your links. You may place more than one link on a page, and place your link on as many pages as you wish. We recommend that you place at least one link on your homepage, as well as any page which is relevant to military or patriotic products.

Can I link to any page on the SoldierCity site?

Yes! You may link to any page on our web site, including the homepage, category pages, and product pages. The page(s) to which you link depends on the theme and target audience of your site.

Can I link to a search?

As long as your affiliate network allows custom links, you may link to an internal search URL. For example, if your site targets Navy veterans, you can link to http://www.soldiercity.com/s/navy+veteran/. You can determine the URL by typing a query in the "Search" box on http://www.soldiercity.com/. After you type your query (in this case, "navy veteran") and press "Enter" or click "Go," you will see the internal search URL in your Web browser's address bar. Simply copy and paste this URL into the custom link creation section of your network interface. You will then be given your special affiliate link to use in the code of your own website.

Can I list prices?

We require that you do not list prices. This is because we regularly update our prices, run promotions, and offer special discounts. If the price advertised on your site is different from the one shown on ours, your customers may become confused. If there is a discrepancy, we can only honor the price listed on our site.

How do I control the look and feel of my online store?

It is up to you to manage the look and feel of your site. You will be the designer of every page. We recommend that you place your SoldierCity affiliate link on your homepage and/or on a page which is relevant to military or patriotic products. You may use more than one link on a page, and place your link on as many pages as you wish.

How should I phrase my link text? Can I use images?

You are free to link to us through the text and/or image(s) of your choice, as long as we find it to properly represent SoldierCity. You are free to download any image from our website for the purpose of using it for your affiliate link(s). Several linking options are presented in your network's affiliate interface.

We also require that you not say that you are "part of" SoldierCity, "partners" with SoldierCity, or that you "work for" SoldierCity. This could lead to improper conclusions and possible confusion over important legal issues such as sales tax collection.

Can I take the order on my web site and just send you the customer and order information after?

No. Our catalog and prices change frequently; by using our system to take orders, you ensure that your visitors get the most up-to-date information and ordering options. In addition, your customers must follow your affiliate links and place their orders on our site in order for us to properly track your affiliate account activity and validate orders.
